MP Beatrice Elachi Reveals Painful Details of Son’s Fatal Accident
Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has spoken out about the devastating accident that claimed the life of her son, Elvis Namenya.
During his memorial service at Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, Elachi shared the heartbreaking details of the tragic crash that took her son’s life.
The Fateful Day
On March 18, Elvis had left home to run errands in Kasarani. While driving back along Thika Road, his car suffered a tyre burst, causing it to veer off the road. He was found unconscious and rushed to AAR Hospital for emergency treatment, but despite efforts to save him, he sadly did not survive.
Elachi revealed that on the day of the accident, Elvis was driving when his vehicle’s tyre burst, forcing him to brake suddenly. In the process, he lost control, resulting in a serious accident that left him with critical injuries.
“These are young people; they don’t always know that when that happens, you shouldn’t touch the emergency brakes. That’s what happened, and in the process, his brain shifted slightly. That’s what took him,” she recounted.
A Mother’s Reflection
Addressing parents, Elachi reflected on the challenges of raising children in today’s generation. She noted that many young people prefer to handle their struggles alone, often keeping their problems from their parents until it is too late.
“We have a generation that believes they can sort out their own problems. They wake up at any hour to deal with challenges without informing anyone, only speaking up when they realise they can’t handle it,” she said.
She urged parents to pray for their children and encouraged young people to involve their families in their struggles to receive proper guidance and support.
Remembering Elvis
Elachi described her late son as a quiet and kind young man with a deep love for both football and church. She expressed her gratitude to his friends for standing by him and the family during this painful time.
Elvis will be laid to rest on Saturday at the family home in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County.
