Super Metro Matatu Accident Causes Snarl-Up on Thika Superhighway
A matatu linked to the Super Metro Sacco overturned on Saturday, March 29, following a collision along Thika Superhighway.
The accident occurred near the Jomoko area on the service lane when the public service vehicle, carrying passengers, crashed into a personal car. The impact caused the matatu to flip onto its side, while the white personal vehicle veered into a ditch.
Eyewitnesses rushed to the scene, with some climbing onto the overturned matatu to help rescue those trapped inside. Videos circulating online captured the tense moments as bystanders worked to assist the passengers.
Police confirmed that no casualties had been reported despite the severity of the accident. However, the crash led to a major traffic snarl-up on the highway as emergency responders and residents worked to clear the wreckage.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident as normal traffic flow resumes.
