Kirinyaga MCA’s Daughter Found Naked and Dead
In a heart-wrenching turn of events, 23-year-old Seth Nyakio Njeri was discovered dead in Thika town on October 14, 2024, just two days after leaving her mother’s home in Kamakis estate, Kiambu.
Her mother, Lucy Njeri, a nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in Kirinyaga County, described the anguish of losing her only daughter in such a brutal manner.
Seth, who had recently graduated from a tertiary college and was in search of employment, had informed her mother of her plans to visit friends in Thika’s Biafra estate.
“Had I known that this was the last time she was to be with me alive, I would have dissuaded her not to go,” Lucy lamented, expressing her disbelief at the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death.
The last contact Lucy had with Seth was just past 9 PM on October 12, when her daughter assured her she was safe. However, when Seth became unreachable the following day, Lucy’s instincts alerted her that something was wrong.
“Silence then tragedy,” she recalled, noting that her daughter’s absence from communication was out of character.
The news that shattered Lucy’s world came early on October 14 when a friend of Seth called to deliver the devastating message: “Your daughter has been found dead.” Overwhelmed, Lucy recounted her descent into despair as she rushed to Thika.
Upon arriving at a rented room in Biafra Estate, she found her beloved daughter naked, with signs of strangulation and blood stains. “The world caved in from beneath my feet,” she said, recalling the moment she realized the gravity of her loss.
Thika West sub-County police boss Mr. Laurence Muchangi confirmed that an investigation is underway, with a male suspect being pursued. “We are after a male suspect…who managed to lure her to Thika,” he stated, revealing that Seth had survived a road accident earlier in April, adding to the tragedy of her untimely death.
As Lucy prepares to lay her daughter to rest, she expressed her disappointment in the police’s handling of the case.
“I feel disappointed that the police have been treating this case casually,” she said, emphasizing the need for justice for Seth, the “fruit of [her] womb.”
