Former MP Peter Mwathi Describes Hours of Terror After Limuru Kidnapping
Former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi has shared details of his alleged kidnapping during chaotic scenes at a funeral in Limuru on Thursday, November 28.
Peter Mwathi’s Account of the Limuru Kidnapping Incident
While attending the burial of Erastus Nduati, an event graced by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Mwathi observed a group of young men who seemed poised to disrupt the occasion. Speaking to KTN, he revealed that his concerns were validated when the youths began shaking the tent where Gachagua was seated, leading many to flee in panic.
Sensing danger, Mwathi recounted how three of his associates rushed him away from the area, running approximately 2.5 kilometers before finding a taxi to whisk him to safety. However, their escape was short-lived as two unmarked vehicles intercepted their car on the way to Naivasha.
“One vehicle blocked us from the front while another closed in from behind. The men approached our car, pulled me out, and I noticed the vehicles had no number plates,” Mwathi said.
He described being sandwiched between two men in the car that took him, who closely guarded him on both sides. The abductors drove him through different roads and forests while questioning him in a menacing manner.
“They asked me if I loved myself, my wife, and my children. They also wanted to know what I do for a living and which political party I support,” he recounted.
Despite his personal stance against the government, Mwathi claimed he told the abductors that he supported the current administration. He noted that he couldn’t identify them as their faces were concealed by hoods and masks. His phone was switched off to prevent any calls.
Peter Mwathi Released After Hours of Psychological Ordeal
After being driven around for hours, Mwathi was eventually dropped off along the Southern Bypass at around 11:30 p.m. “It was pitch dark when they let me out of the vehicle,” he said.
Although he wasn’t physically harmed, Mwathi described the experience as mentally harrowing, constantly fearing what the abductors might do next.
