“You’re set up Ruto”: Caleb Amisi states why ODM MPs support Gachagua’s ouster
In a dramatic turn of events, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has shed light on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmakers’ backing of the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking to the press, Amisi asserted that Gachagua’s political demise is largely self-inflicted, rooted in his actions during the contentious 2022 presidential campaigns.
“Gachagua’s downfall started during the 2022 presidential election campaigns,” Amisi remarked, highlighting the former Mathira lawmaker’s role in attacking key political figures.
According to him, President William Ruto played a pivotal role in setting Gachagua up for failure by allowing him to target prominent opponents, including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The speech that made Raila MPs to impeach Gachagua en masse. You were set up by Ruto to abuse Raila and Uhuru, an assignment that you did viciously,” Amisi elaborated. He emphasized that Gachagua’s repeated derogatory comments about Raila Odinga contributed significantly to the current impeachment proceedings.
Amisi urged Gachagua to reflect on his actions, insisting that “you must blame no one else but your inability to detect ‘perception.’ In politics, just like in war, learn to shoot in the air even when ordered to shoot to kill! It is simply a dangerous game! No permanent friend, no permanent enemy!”
The remarks come as ODM MPs unite in their push to remove Gachagua from office, a move that has sparked widespread debate within political circles. Gachagua, who was once a vocal critic of the opposition, now finds himself in a precarious position as the ramifications of his past statements continue to unfold.
