A bizarre love triangle unraveled when a Kitusuru woman, reported missing by her Nairobi boyfriend, was discovered at her husband’s home in Narok.
Mercy Awuor, whose disappearance caused panic and led to allegations of kidnapping, has now spoken out, denying claims of ransom demands.
The drama began when Awuor’s boyfriend, Brian, with whom she had been in a relationship for a year, claimed she had been kidnapped and that her alleged captors demanded KSh 100,000 for her release. The case took an unexpected turn when authorities traced her to Narok, where she was found comfortably residing with her husband and their two children.
Speaking to Citizen TV, Mercy refuted Brian’s allegations. “I was shocked to hear he said I asked for a ransom. What would I do with that money?” she remarked, expressing disbelief at the accusations.
Further revelations showed that Awuor is legally married to the Narok man, who had paid her bride price of two cows in a customary marriage. Her husband has kept a low profile but finds himself embroiled in the ongoing investigation.

Mercy, her husband, and another individual suspected of making the ransom call are all in police custody as investigations proceed. Brian, the man who raised the alarm, has also been detained for providing potentially false information to law enforcement.
Inspector Jane Njoroge, leading the investigation, said, “We are piecing together evidence to establish the truth. Both the kidnapping claims and the nature of relationships involved are under scrutiny.”
