Willy Paul Decries Ill Treatment at Diamond Platnumz’s Nairobi Show
Popular Kenyan musician Willy Paul has voiced his frustration over how he was treated during the Furaha City event. The star-studded lineup featured notable artists like Mejja, Khaligraph Jones, Zuchu, Rayvanny, and Diamond Platnumz.
Willy Paul took to social media to express his dissatisfaction, accusing the event organizers of favoring Tanzanian artists over their Kenyan counterparts.
“Tanzanian artistes are being prioritized at this event. This is disheartening. Why are Kenyans being disrespected in front of Bongo musicians?” he lamented in his post.
The artist, also known as Pozze, further complained about last-minute changes that he felt unfairly sidelined Kenyan performers. “I’m being mistreated at the event. They’re prioritizing Tanzanians and making last-minute changes. Why are Kenyans tolerating this?” he captioned.
Fans quickly shared their reactions, with opinions divided. Some supported Willy Paul, praising his performance, while others felt he was overreacting.
One fan, @beingblack31, commented, “I give you your flowers you deserve the best.”
Another, @jelardl, urged Willy Paul to focus on his craft rather than regional differences, stating, “Don’t compare yourself with @diamondplatnumz. Work hard, forget about Kenyan or Tanzanian labels. We are all East Africans. Tribalism and regionalism will hinder your growth.”
Others offered constructive advice, like @briankeith254, who suggested, “Next time, don’t allow a poster to be made with other artists’ fonts bigger than yours if you want respect.”
Despite the controversy, some fans acknowledged Willy Paul’s stellar performance, with @dennisketone noting, “Pozze, thanks for the dope performance. We were happy.”
