Standoff in Nyeri as Morara Kebaso Dares Fire Engine During Civic Education Rally [VIDEO]
In a dramatic turn of events, Morara Kebaso’s civic education rally at Kiawara Market in Nyeri County on Sunday faced an unexpected interruption when a fire engine attempted to push through the crowd he was addressing.
Kebaso, who has been vocal in his criticism of President William Ruto’s regime, was in the Mt. Kenya region to reinspect government projects when the disruption occurred.
A video shared by Kebaso captured the tense moments as the fire engine, flashing its lights but without sounding its siren, veered off the tarmac and bulldozed its way into the market center. The vehicle’s erratic movements raised eyebrows, especially as it appeared to have no immediate emergency to attend to.
“The vehicle was headed nowhere to do nothing and even left the tarmac to follow us into the market center where we were discussing issues of national importance. It kept reversing and speeding towards us like a charging bull,” Kebaso recounted.
In the video, the fire engine’s aggressive approach seemed to deliberately target the rally, raising concerns about the safety of those in attendance.
Despite the clear danger posed by the vehicle, Kebaso stood his ground, daring the driver to proceed. “Let’s see whether they will hit me. When we wanted you to come put off the fire, you were not there. It is now that you want to hit me with the engine,” Kebaso challenged, referring to a recent fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy, where the fire department had allegedly failed to respond promptly.
The incident is the latest in a series of challenges faced by Kebaso during his tour of the region. Just recently, he was forced to cancel a planned inspection of stalled projects in Mt. Kenya due to what he described as “serious infiltration by state operatives.”
Kebaso revealed that he had received threats to his life, which prompted him to call off the tour. “Due to security reasons, I have cancelled my Mount Kenya tour of stalled projects where money has been stolen. The tour was to start tomorrow morning. Intelligence briefs reaching me indicate serious infiltration by state operatives by persons coming as well-wishers and persons of goodwill. I will announce the next move,” he disclosed.
Despite these setbacks, Kebaso remains resolute in his mission to hold the government accountable.
During the event, he urged the people of Mt. Kenya to demand transparency from their leaders, emphasizing the need to curb corruption. “Meanwhile I am asking the people of Mount Kenya to wake up their leaders and keep them accountable. Let’s finish theft so that development can continue,” he urged.
Kebaso’s ongoing campaign has spotlighted incomplete and abandoned projects in the region, which he claims are evidence of the corruption plaguing the government.
