Senetor Gloria Orwoba Breaks Silence on Claims She is Dating Former Ghana President John Kufuor
Senator Gloria Orwoba has strongly condemned a recent article in a local newspaper, calling it gossip that misrepresents the truth.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Orwoba criticized the publication for invading her privacy and spreading propaganda. She demanded a retraction and apology for the insinuations made in the piece by The Nairobian.
Orwoba noted that being a female politician means dealing with all forms of violence for the better part of her career. “I have bravely confronted powerful men across all social strata, challenging them on actions and inactions that entrench and perpetuate negative patriarchy,” she wrote.
The senator expressed dismay at the violation of private spaces concerning women and minors who cannot defend themselves in the public domain. She specifically called for respect for former Ghanaian President John Kufuor, whose name was mentioned in the report.
“An honourable statesman of Africa like H.E. John Kufuor should be given his right of reply,” she said, urging the media to uphold ethical standards.
Orwoba, known for her unapologetic advocacy on gender issues, criticized the article for perpetuating harmful narratives against women in leadership. She added that such articles undermine women in politics and perpetuate a culture of impunity where baseless allegations are treated as fact.
Orwoba concluded her statement by demanding that The Nairobian withdraw the article and issue a public apology for its insinuations. As of now, the publication has not responded to her remarks.
