Ruto Outlines Grand Plan to Elevate Eastlands to London or New York Standards
President William Ruto concluded his five-day visit to Nairobi by making several commitments.
On Friday, March 14, he vowed to transform Eastlands into a modern area, similar to New York City or London.
He plans to achieve this through his Affordable Housing project, by improving residential areas.
“I am telling you that we will have an Affordable Housing programme. We are going to be around 2700 houses in the first round. We later going to add more houses to make it reach to 5000 houses,” he stated. “In Shauri Moyo we are going to build 4000 houses. In Makongeni, we will build 30,000 houses. We are going to do this to transform Eastlands. We are going to build a 26-storey building. This place is going to look like London or New York,” he further explained.
The president’s goal is to improve the living conditions of Eastlands residents to match those living in foreign countries. He also promised to create 1,500 jobs for unemployed young people through the Affordable Housing initiative, to help them meet their daily needs.
During his Nairobi tour, Ruto repeatedly encouraged Kenyans to stay united and reject political divisions based on ethnicity.
He emphasized that Kenya belongs to all its citizens, regardless of their tribal background, skin color, religion, region, or any other differences.
