PSC Releases List of Top 10 Best Performing Government Institutions

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has released its list of the top ten best-performing government organizations, based on their adherence to the values and principles outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Kenyan Constitution.

The evaluation, which considered 508 institutions, highlighted Kibabii University as the leading performer.

Following Kibabii University, the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning, the Kenya Trade Network Agency, and the State Department for Agriculture secured the next top spots.

The remaining institutions in the top ten included the Konza Technopolis Development Authority, the Anti-Counterfeit Authority, Dedan Kimathi University of Science and Technology, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, the Ewaso Nyiro South Development Authority, and the State Department for Co-operatives.

According to the PSC, the assessment focused on several key areas, including improvements in service delivery and the upholding of high standards of professional ethics within the public service.

Further, the evaluation examined performance management, fair distribution of opportunities and resources, public involvement in policy development, and efficient resource utilization. The Commission also scrutinized aspects of good governance, transparency, and accountability.

The PSC’s report revealed that “the overall compliance index for all the 508 institutions evaluated was 43.8% compared to 46.0% in the previous year evaluation (2022/2023).”

The report concluded that this “moderate score” indicated “that there were gaps and room for improvement in adherence to values and principles in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution.”
