President Ruto Donates Ksh.10 Million for Pastor’s Plaza in Narok
President William Ruto has once again demonstrated his unwavering support for evangelical initiatives by pledging Ksh.10 million for the construction of a Pastors Plaza in Narok County.
While speaking during a church service in Narok on Sunday, Ruto addressed local preachers who had requested a symbolic “State House” in the area. Instead, he proposed an alternative — a dedicated building for pastors that would stand as a lasting emblem of the government’s support for religious institutions.
“You asked for a sign of State House here… Since we can’t build a State Lodge, we’ll construct a Pastors Plaza,” Ruto said. “I will find Ksh.10 million to begin the project. If you run into challenges, I’ll involve my friends — Senators, Governors — to help. There will be a sign of State Lodge.”

This public commitment follows mounting scrutiny over Ruto’s substantial donations to churches, which have sparked debate about the role of religion in governance and the use of public resources.
Despite previous criticism, including from within his administration, Ruto has remained steadfast in backing evangelical missions. He argues that spiritual guidance and unity are essential pillars for national progress.
During his address, Ruto also took the opportunity to defend his broad-based “unity government” approach. Responding to critics who oppose the cooperation between his administration and opposition figures, Ruto emphasized that the focus should be on unity, not division.
“We are working hard to unite the people of Kenya,” he said. “I’m proud that Raila Odinga and I are working together. We are not ashamed of our efforts to unite Kenyans.”
His remarks appear aimed at political factions unhappy with the newfound collaboration between Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga — a union that has caught many by surprise.
Additionally, President Ruto reiterated his administration’s commitment to the fight against corruption, announcing the full rollout of e-Procurement systems in April. This digital platform is expected to increase transparency and accountability in government procurement processes, an area long plagued by corruption.
“The e-Procurement we’ve waited for over the years is finally launching this April, just as I promised,” Ruto confirmed.
The digital shift marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to streamline procurement and eliminate loopholes for graft. It aligns with Ruto’s broader vision of reforming key sectors through digitization.
While Ruto’s religious donations continue to divide opinion, supporters argue that he is reinforcing moral leadership and nurturing Kenya’s spiritual heritage. Critics, however, caution that such generosity may blur the lines between church and state, potentially undermining fiscal responsibility.
Nonetheless, Ruto’s messaging in Narok was clear: his government will continue to support both religious and civic reforms, even in the face of controversy.
