Police Pursue Suspects After Car Goes Missing During Kenya vs Gabon Game
A distressing incident has emerged from the Kenya-Gabon football match, as a fan discovered his vehicle stolen after the game.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is now actively pursuing the case, highlighting a troubling trend of thefts surrounding the event.
The victim parked his silver Toyota IST along Kisauni Road, near Nyayo Stadium, at approximately 3:40 pm.
Upon his return around 7 pm, his car was gone. He immediately reported the theft to Akila Police Station, prompting an immediate investigation. DCI officers have circulated the vehicle’s details, and the owner has provided proof of ownership.
In a separate incident, Juja police are investigating the theft of a white Toyota Axio from a residence in the Matangi area. The owner reported the vehicle missing on Sunday morning, having parked it outside his home the previous night. This incident adds to the growing concern about vehicle thefts in the region.
The National Police Service (NPS) is appealing to the public for any information regarding these stolen vehicles. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact their nearest police station or call the NPS directly.
The Kenya-Gabon match, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for Kenya, was marred by several controversies. Before the match, unruly fans forced their way into Nyayo Stadium, breaching security protocols. During the match, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was forcibly removed from the pitch by angry fans, who demanded he “respect the President.”
Adding to the chaos, businesswoman Wangari Thiong’o, the wife of Jimal Roho Safi, reported a significant robbery.
Her black bag, containing Ksh256,000 in cash, a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, ear pods, a power bank, and vital documents, was snatched after the match. Her account of the incident has since circulated widely on social media.
