Outrage in Elgeyo Marakwet as Angry Residents Burn House of Suspect in Dentist’s Murder
Residents of Elgeyo Marakwet took matters into their own hands by torching the house of the prime suspect linked to the murder of a missing dentist, whose body was discovered dumped in a forest in Keiyo North constituency.
The remains of Simon Cheboi, a dentist at Iten Referral Hospital, were found in a decomposed state on Friday at 7:30 PM. He had been missing for nearly a week before his tragic discovery.
Confirming the incident, Keiyo North Deputy Commissioner Julius Maiyo stated that the main suspect—who was last seen with Cheboi before his disappearance—had been taken into custody to assist with the investigation.
Enraged by the killing, a group of locals stormed the suspect’s residence and set it on fire, demanding swift justice for the slain dentist.
However, Commissioner Maiyo strongly warned against mob justice, urging the public to allow law enforcement officers to handle the case professionally.
“There are leads that police officers are working with, and those involved will face the law,” he assured.
Meanwhile, authorities have intensified their investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder.
