ODM MP Plunged Into Mourning as Son Dies Under Mysterious Circumstances
Suna West Member of Parliament Peter Masara is heartbroken following the tragic loss of his son.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the party to which Masara belongs, shared the sad news on Monday, June 30, along with a heartfelt condolence message.
“We commiserate with Hon. Peter Masara, MP for Suna West, for the loss of his beloved son Hillary,” ODM said in a statement.
The statement went on, “We pray for Mheshimiwa and his family to have God’s grace, strength and fortitude in this difficult time of grief.”
News of Masara’s loss first surfaced online on Sunday, as the lawmaker’s constituents took to social media to share the heartbreaking news along with their messages of condolence.
While the specifics surrounding the tragic passing of his son are still unclear, it seems that his death came as quite a shock.

This marks yet another sorrowful moment for the ODM party, which has recently faced several notable losses among its leaders and their families.
On June 14, Kilifi governor Gideon Mung’aro shared the news of his father’s passing, which, rather poignantly, coincided with Father’s Day celebrations around the world.
Ong’ondo was tragically shot on April 30 as he was leaving parliament, while Injendi sadly passed away on February 17 after spending weeks in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
When it comes to Masara’s family, they’ve kept much of the lawmaker’s personal life under wraps. However, back in 2020, he faced a heartbreaking loss when his brother was discovered dead in his apartment in Oruba village, located in Suna West Sub County.
At that time, amidst the confusion surrounding his brother’s death, it came to light that he had been battling tuberculosis in the days leading up to his passing.
On a brighter note, Masara enjoys a strong reputation in his constituency, and a recent report even highlighted him as one of the top-performing lawmakers in the country.
