Missing Iten Dentist Found Dead as Police Arrest Woman Last Seen With Him
Dr. Simion Cheboi, a dentist working at Iten County Referral Hospital, was found dead at Annin Hills after being reported missing on February 21.
According to reports, Cheboi had informed people close to him that he was heading to visit a female friend linked to the sale of alcohol in the area. However, he never returned home, sparking concern among his family and friends.
Iten Police Commander Peter Mulinge confirmed the tragic discovery, stating that the area chief reported finding Cheboi’s body. Authorities quickly launched investigations, leading to the arrest of a local brewer who was reportedly the last person seen with the 48-year-old doctor. She is currently being held at Iten Police Station as inquiries into the circumstances of his death continue.
Alice Chepchumba Chebii, the deceased’s wife, recounted her distress after realizing her husband was missing. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, she revealed that she had spent days searching for him with no success.
Chebii explained that on the day he disappeared, she returned home in the evening with their eight-year-old daughter but found that her husband was not there. Initially, she was not worried, assuming he would either return or inform her if he intended to stay out.
However, as the hours passed, her concern grew. By 9 p.m., Cheboi had not come home, and his phone calls went unanswered. Eventually, his phone was switched off, deepening her anxiety.
“I woke up at midnight, and he was still not in bed. I tried calling again, but he did not answer. An hour later, his phone went off. I went back to sleep, hoping he would return by morning, but he never did,” Chebii recalled.
Unable to reach him and fearing the worst, she decided to report his disappearance to the authorities, hoping for assistance in locating him.
As investigations continue, police are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding Cheboi’s death, with the detained woman expected to provide crucial details in the case.
