Millie Vows to Rally Azimio MPs Against Gachagua’s Impeachment—If DP’s Allies Meet One Condition
Suba North MP and National Assembly Minority Whip, Millie Odhiambo, has vowed to rally all Azimio la Umoja MPs behind the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua if his allies do not publicly apologize for linking Raila Odinga to the ouster plot.
Odhiambo’s fiery remarks came during a public address in Homa Bay County, where she expressed outrage over accusations from Gachagua’s camp that Raila was behind the impeachment efforts.
“Gachagua told us not to touch the mountain, and we listened. He has now touched Raila, and we are going to touch the mountain,” Odhiambo declared, referencing a statement by Gachagua cautioning against meddling in Mt. Kenya politics. She added, “I heard MP Wamaua accusing Raila of being the reason for the impeachment. I had not signed the impeachment petition, but after they attacked Raila, I looked for the petition and signed it.”
According to Odhiambo, the ODM party and its leader, Raila Odinga, have no involvement in the internal conflicts within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. She made it clear that their primary focus is supporting Raila’s bid for the African Union Commission chairperson position, and not engaging in any local political disputes.
“We don’t know anything about them. So why do you want to get us into a war that is not ours? And I want to encourage you to refrain, desist, and depart from attacking Raila Odinga,” she said.
Odhiambo went on to issue a stern ultimatum to Gachagua’s allies, demanding a public apology for dragging Raila into the impeachment narrative. “If they want us to retreat, let them come out and publicly apologize for attacking Raila. You cannot attack Raila, who has done nothing.”
She concluded with a warning: if Gachagua’s allies refuse to apologize, she will spearhead a movement to ensure all Azimio MPs throw their full support behind the impeachment motion. “So please, leave Raila Odinga out of this issue. Leave us out of this issue. It’s not our business.”
