Kioni Hints at Kalonzo Alliance with Matiang’i, Natembeya to Unseat Ruto 2027
Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has disclosed plans for a grand coalition spearheaded by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, aiming to unite prominent political figures to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Sunday, November 24, at the Jesus Teaching Ministry in Embakasi East, Kioni detailed the coalition’s ambitions and potential members.
“We follow Kalonzo because we know he has the ability and the vision to help Kenya. He has helped before and he will continue to help,” Kioni said, affirming Musyoka’s leadership credentials.
Kioni revealed that former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya are being courted to join the alliance. The coalition’s goal, according to Kioni, is to create a unified front powerful enough to unseat President Ruto.
“We have mentioned the names of those we want in the grand coalition because we need to unseat Ruto. We have to come together as a group to remove him from office. We have to make sure it is a one-touch deal,” he emphasized.
“So that it happens in one touch, we want to bring leaders like Matiang’i and Natembeya together to ensure Ruto goes home,” he added.
Amid political turbulence following Raila Odinga’s recent cooperation with President Ruto, the opposition landscape is fragmenting. The Azimio coalition’s cracks have prompted a strategic realignment, with Kalonzo emerging as a key opposition figure.
For Kioni, the coalition’s success hinges on assembling a team of credible, influential leaders. “So that it happens in one touch, we want to bring leaders like Matiang’i and Natembeya together to ensure Ruto goes home,” Kioni asserted.
He dismissed concerns over Matiang’i’s legal troubles, drawing a comparison to Ruto’s historical court challenges at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Kioni’s comments echo similar sentiments by DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, who recently unveiled a vision for the coalition. However, Wamalwa also projected himself as a presidential aspirant under the same movement.
With Musyoka positioned as the face of this coalition, and the inclusion of seasoned leaders, the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections promise to be both dramatic and unpredictable. If successful, this alliance could redefine Kenya’s political landscape.
