Kenyan-Registered Plane Crashes in Somalia, All 5 Passengers Feared Dead
A Kenya-registered cargo plane has tragically crashed in the Jasiira settlement near Mogadishu, claiming the lives of all five people on board.
The aircraft, identified as Buffalo 5Y-RBA, lost contact with air traffic control before going down on Saturday.
The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) confirmed that the aircraft, a DHC-5D Buffalo operated by Trident Aviation Ltd, crashed approximately 24 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu at 5:43 pm local time.
The plane had taken off from Dhobley and was headed to Aden Abdulle International Airport when disaster struck.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the crash. However, emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the site, and an investigation is already underway.
All five individuals on board were Kenyan nationals. Reports indicate that one passenger initially survived but later succumbed to injuries while receiving medical treatment.
In an official statement, the SCAA expressed condolences to the victims’ families and assured that updates would be provided as new information emerges.
