Kenya Power to Cut Electricity in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kakamega, and More on Friday, June 6
Kenya Power has issued a public notice about planned electricity outages scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025. The power cuts will affect several counties, including Mombasa, Nakuru, Nyandarua, Nandi, and Kakamega, as part of routine maintenance and upgrades to the power grid.
Power Outage in Mombasa County
Residents in parts of Mombasa, especially the Bombolulu area, should prepare for a blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. The affected areas include Naivas Supermarket Bombolulu, Kisimani, Makaburini, and nearby neighborhoods.
Nakuru County to Experience Full-Day Blackout
In the Central Rift region, Nakuru County will also face a full-day power interruption from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas expected to be affected include:
- Kinamba
- Kinungi
- NYS
- Uwezo Millers
- Vashma Mabati
- Fai Amarillo
- Kayole Makutano
- Keroche Breweries
- Rift Valley Roses, and many others.
Nyandarua County: 8-Hour Power Disruption
In Nyandarua, the power will be off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. This outage will affect towns and areas such as:
- Engineer
- Miharati
- Njambini
- Murungaru
- Ndunyu Njeru
- Sasumua Dam
- Foot Hill School, and more.

In the North Rift region, Kapsabet Town and surrounding areas in Nandi County will go without electricity between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.. Affected places include:
- Namgoi
- Kapsabet Boys High School
- Mother Francisca
- St. Peter’s Catholic Church
- Kamobo, among others.
Power Cuts in Kakamega County, Western Kenya
Residents of Kakamega County will also experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Areas affected include:
- Shimanyiro
- Jamindaz
- Eshishiru Market
- Shibuli Market
- Elwesero
- Emasai
- Maondo, and surrounding locations.
Mai Mahiu, Central Rift, and North Eastern Regions Also Affected
In the Mai Mahiu area, scheduled blackouts will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Key areas to be affected include:
- River Springs Hotel
- China Wu-Yi
- Gold Stone Quarry
- Kingston Quarry
- Ewaso Kedong Market
- Najire Girls School
- The Earth Station, and others.
