Kakamega Man Dies After Checking Into Room With Woman
Police in Kakamega County are investigating the mysterious death of a 55-year-old man, Elijah Mudongo, who was found lifeless in a room at an entertainment club in Shibuli Trading Centre, Lurambi.
Authorities are on the hunt for an unknown woman who is believed to have been with him before his sudden demise.
According to investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the woman joined Mudongo at the club on Sunday, approximately five hours after he had entered the establishment.
The pair was later seen checking into a room. However, the woman left the club under unclear circumstances, leaving Mudongo behind. Hours later, his body was discovered on the floor of the room.
The DCI officer leading the investigation confirmed that two used condoms were found next to the body. “We are still doing our investigations. It is true we found the man dead, and beside him were two used condoms.
There are rumors by locals and those working in the restaurant that the man was in the company of a woman who left the room alone. A worker later discovered the man was dead,” the officer said.
Additionally, investigators found an unidentified substance near the body, believed to be some form of drug. “We also found a look-alike drug, which can only be tested by a physician or medical expert. We are working to establish whether it is connected to the death,” the officer added.
Velma Achema, the owner of the club, said Mudongo was a frequent customer and arrived at the club early that morning. “The deceased was my regular customer. On that day, he came in the morning and, after five hours, was joined by a lady. They ordered food and booked a room,” she explained.
Concerns arose when Mudongo did not respond to his food order after several hours. “From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., we became suspicious when our client wasn’t responding. We sent a waiter to the room, only for him to find the man lying alone on the floor, dead,” Achema recounted.
The body was transferred to Kakamega Funeral Parlor for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Locals, however, are urging police to investigate thoroughly, with many warning men about the potential dangers of using enhancement drugs.
Hillary Mukhonje, a local resident, stressed, “I want to urge the police to establish the cause of death and arrest the woman. I also urge men to be cautious when using certain drugs during love-making and to always consult a doctor.”
