Govt Issues Warning on Fake Job Listings for Kenyan Drivers Abroad
Kenyans are being urgently cautioned against applying for overseas driver positions advertised by Prime International Consultants.
The State Department for Diaspora Affairs has officially declared the agency a fraudulent entity.
“Prime International Consultants does not offer genuine job opportunities for drivers abroad,” the department stated, urging the public to exercise extreme caution and dismiss the advertisement.
The government clarified that it has no affiliation with the agency and encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities. This warning comes as the alleged job offer, with a March 28 application deadline, included a requirement for in-person interviews.
Unfortunately, many Kenyans seeking international employment have fallen victim to deceptive agencies.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has already blacklisted 26 such agencies for illegal operations and defrauding job seekers with false promises.
To safeguard themselves, Kenyans should verify the legitimacy of recruitment agencies through the National Employment Authority (NEA).
Confirming an agency’s registration and license is crucial. Visiting physical offices can also help establish an agency’s credibility.
Furthermore, job seekers should avoid making upfront payments and be wary of agencies demanding large sums of money.
This warning coincides with the Kenyan government’s initiative to create one million overseas job opportunities annually.
This program, led by the Ministry of Labour, aims to combat unemployment through structured labor migration, targeting skilled and semi-skilled workers for positions in countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Australia, and Poland.
