Gachagua Exposes Ruto’s Alleged Plot with ODM for His Impeachment
In a surprising turn of events, Taifa Leo has unveiled a brewing conflict within Kenya’s ruling coalition, Kenya Kwanza, spotlighting the growing rift between President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
In a candid interview with Mt Kenya vernacular stations, Gachagua exposed the internal strife and alleged persecution orchestrated by the president and his close allies.
During the interview, Deputy President Gachagua claimed that his political allies were being monitored, with their phone conversations recorded and scrutinized. “Whoever calls me has their conversation recorded. They are later called to be asked about our conversation, all this yet I am the deputy president,” Gachagua stated. These allegations point to an intense atmosphere of distrust and surveillance within the upper echelons of power.
Furthermore, Gachagua revealed that his controversial public statements, which have sparked widespread criticism, were made under the directives of President Ruto. He suggested that the president had instructed him to make most of the remarks that angered many Kenyans. This disclosure raises questions about the dynamics of their relationship and the strategic decisions taken within the ruling party.
Adding to the tension, Gachagua accused the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of being weaponized against him. He painted a picture of a targeted campaign aimed at undermining his position and influence within the government.
The deputy president also addressed rumors of an impeachment plot against him. He claimed that his adversaries, lacking sufficient numbers in the National Assembly, had enlisted the support of lawmakers from the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to bolster their efforts. “I hear they wanted to impeach me, but they did not have the numbers. So I’m told with Raila and his people onboard, they are coming for me. However, I don’t take the impeachment matter seriously,” he remarked.
This public airing of grievances by Gachagua marks a significant escalation in the apparent feud between him and President Ruto. The implications of these revelations could have far-reaching effects on the stability and unity of the Kenya Kwanza coalition, as well as on the broader political landscape in Kenya.
