Gachagua Ally James Gakuya Expresses Fears DP Won’t Survive Impeachment

In a bold statement reflecting the growing concerns among Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s allies, Embakasi North Member of Parliament James Gakuya expressed fears that the Deputy President may not withstand the impending impeachment motion.

Speaking during a recent panel discussion on TV47, Gakuya suggested that the situation had deteriorated to the point where Gachagua’s camp might be resigned to their fate.

Gakuya pointed fingers at the leadership of the National Assembly for exhibiting what he termed “partisan politics” regarding the contentious impeachment issue. He criticized Speaker Moses Wetangula and his deputy, Gladys Boss Shollei, for their public comments on the matter, which he claimed undermined the integrity of the motion scheduled for presentation.

“The Speaker Moses Wetangula and his Deputy Gladys Boss Shollei pronounced themselves on the impeachment of DP Rigathi Gachagua; they were very clear that the die is cast,” Gakuya stated, indicating that the outlook for Gachagua was increasingly bleak.

Moreover, Gakuya emphasized that the sentiments expressed by Wetangula and Shollei signified a significant threat to Gachagua’s position. “Their sentiments clearly show that the knives have been sharpened; there is no option, the die is cast and he must be sacrificed,” he asserted, hinting at a coordinated effort to remove the Deputy President from office.

Backing Gakuya’s comments, former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu suggested that the challenges facing Gachagua stem from none other than President William Ruto himself. According to Mutambu, Ruto allegedly harbors suspicions that Gachagua has aligned with recent anti-government protests aimed at destabilizing his administration.

“The President believes that the Deputy President is part of the recent anti-government protestors who wanted Ruto out of power,” he revealed, deepening the narrative of internal strife within the ruling party.

As the impeachment motion approaches, it remains to be seen how this political drama will unfold and what it means for the future of Gachagua and the current administration.
