Former KTN TV Presenter Nick Mudimba Dies Suddenly After Watching Harambee Stars Match
The media fraternity is in mourning following the sudden passing of Nick Mudimba, a seasoned CGTN senior reporter. Mudimba, who previously graced screens at KTN and Switch TV, died Sunday evening at his Syokimau residence in Machakos County.
His passing followed a battle with illness, including elevated uric acid levels. He had sought treatment just the day before. Reports indicate he was recovering well. He even enjoyed watching the Harambee Stars football match against Gabon, before collapsing.
Nick Mudimba’s death leaves a void in sports journalism. He was known for his deep passion for sports and his dedication to mentoring aspiring broadcasters. Just days prior, he had enthusiastically promoted the Kenya-Gabon match on social media.
The news of his demise triggered an outpouring of grief from fellow journalists. Social media platforms were flooded with tributes, particularly from colleagues at Standard Group and beyond.
Citizen TV’s Mashirima Kapombe expressed her sorrow on X, questioning the cruelty of death and praying for Mudimba’s eternal rest. Stephen Letoo, also from Citizen TV, recalled their shared moments and Mudimba’s helpful nature during a work trip to Addis Ababa.
