Ex-MP Kenn Nyagudi Passes Away at KNH
The nation mourns the passing of former Kisumu West MP Kenn Nyagudi, who succumbed to a prolonged illness.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula confirmed the sad news via his X account on Sunday, March 24th.
Speaker Wetangula expressed his condolences, revealing that Nyagudi passed away while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing. “I send my heartfelt sympathies to the family of former Kisumu Town West MP Rev. Kenn Nyagudi,” he stated, recalling their interaction during his time as Foreign Affairs Minister. “May his family be consoled and find comfort.”
Nyagudi’s political journey began in 2004, when he won a by-election following the death of Joab Omino. He served as the Kisumu West MP for four years, until his defeat by Olago Aluoch in the 2007 general election. Undeterred, he later sought the Kisumu Central MP seat in 2013, but was unsuccessful against Ken Obura.
This loss comes shortly after the passing of another prominent figure, former Baringo North MP Willy Rotich Kamuren, who died in February. Kamuren was a respected politician and businessman, playing a significant role in Baringo County’s political landscape.
Kamuren’s career began in 1963, when he was elected as the first MP for Baringo East (now Tiaty Constituency). He later served as a nominated MP in 1983 and was elected MP for Baringo North from 1988 to 1997, all under the KANU party. These two losses, in quick succession, have shaken the political community.
The passing of the former Kisumu MP Nyagudi, marks the end of a dedicated public servant’s life. His contributions to the region will be remembered. The nation reflects on his service, and mourns with his family.
