Drama at Ngurubani as 52-Year-Old Woman with Five Kids Stop Pastor’s Wedding Mid-Ceremony
In an unexpected turn of events, members of the Vision Beyond Living Gospel Church witnessed a dramatic interruption during a wedding ceremony on Saturday, August 3.
The commotion began when Rose Wawira Chomba and her five children stormed into the church to halt the nuptials of Chomba Njoka Mutambu and his bride-to-be, Regina.
Rose Wawira, clearly incensed, confronted the congregation with accusations that the groom was attempting to secretly wed another woman without informing his current family. “We went to church to solemnise our marriage according to the canonical rules, and a Kerugoya parish granted it, so I wonder how he is wedding another wife without our knowledge,” Wawira declared, as reported by Citizen TV Kenya.
The dramatic scene intensified as Wawira, supported by her children, faced off against the church’s security personnel who were determined to maintain order.
Peter Macharia Kamau, a member of the congregation, expressed his bewilderment at the timing of the confrontation. “We are wondering why they are coming at this time despite all the time they had to make objections during preparations,” Kamau remarked.
Wawira further detailed her grievances against the 58-year-old Chomba, accusing him of abandoning his family to live with Regina.
She alleged that her estranged husband was planning to sell their land, leaving her and their children destitute. “He has left us with nothing, and now he wants to abandon us completely and take away our home,” Wawira asserted.
The incident left the congregation in shock and led to a temporary halt of the wedding proceedings. Members of the Vision Beyond Living Gospel Church were left to grapple with the unexpected interruption and the heated emotions that unfolded before them.
As the situation escalated, it highlighted the complexities and personal dramas that can sometimes spill over into public settings, turning a joyful celebration into a spectacle of familial conflict.
The future of Chomba’s intended marriage and his relationship with Wawira and their children remains uncertain, with legal and personal implications likely to follow.
