CS Ogamba Reveals Why KCSE Candidates Will Have to Wait Longer for Their Results
Candidates who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will have to wait longer for their results.
The Ministry of Education has conducted a thorough analysis to eliminate instances of exam cheating. As a result, the release of the results has been delayed to January 2025.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba explained that the ministry has implemented a new anonymized system to avoid any mix-ups following the conclusion of the marking process.
This system is part of the effort to ensure the integrity of the examination results.
Over 965,000 candidates nationwide took the KCSE exams. However, the ministry’s commitment to addressing malpractices and ensuring accurate results has pushed the release date.
Ogamba highlighted that several cases of cheating were detected, leading to court cases for those involved.
“There were a few malpractices, and those who were found to have engaged in those malpractices are actually facing court cases, and we will be dealing with that,” Ogamba stated.
Examiners reported cheating incidents across multiple examination centers. It was revealed that in some regions, parents and school administrators colluded to bribe supervisors, invigilators, and security officers to facilitate cheating.
A source within the examination body disclosed, “I learnt that in a number of schools in certain regions, parents and school administrators came together to bribe supervisors, invigilators, and security officers.”
