Baichu Murega: “I’ll Face Kathuri in 2027, No Matter the Seat“
Kawira Mwangaza’s Husband Murega Baichu Vows to Run Against Senator Kathuri Murungi for Any Seat in 2027
In a bold and unexpected political move, Murega Baichu, husband to Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, has announced his intention to challenge current Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi in the 2027 elections.
The declaration was made during a charged political rally at Mbaaria market, where Baichu, a well-known musician-turned-politician, captivated the crowd with his promise to run head-to-head against Murungi.
“I’m ready to challenge Kathuri Murungi for any seat he decides to run for in 2027,” Baichu declared, sparking excitement among his supporters. “If Kathuri Murungi will run for a seat in 2027, that’s the seat I will also vie for. If he is running for MCA, let him run for MCA; that’s the seat I, Murega Baichu, will contest. If he runs for MP, that’s the seat I will also seek, and we’ll compete for it.”
Baichu’s ambition does not stop at the Senate seat currently held by Murungi. He made it clear that, regardless of which political office Murungi pursues, he would be right there to compete. “If he continues to vie for the Senate seat of Meru county, we’ll be with him; I and Kathuri Murungi will compete head-to-head,” Baichu asserted confidently.
The artist-politician further raised the stakes, indicating that even if Murungi were to seek the governorship of Meru, a position currently held by Baichu’s wife, he would not back down. “Even if he decides to run for governor, I’ll vie against him in that race,” Baichu said, drawing loud cheers from the gathered crowd.
This announcement sets the stage for what promises to be a fierce political battle in Meru County come 2027, especially considering the high-profile nature of Baichu and Murungi’s political roles.
With Baichu’s entry into the race, the dynamics of the Meru political landscape could undergo significant shifts as the two prominent figures prepare for an intense contest.
