Caleb Amisi Unmasks Ruto’s Blueprint to Win Raila’s Backyard in 2027
Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has painted a sharp picture of President William Ruto’s political maneuvering, accusing him of employing shrewd and calculated tactics to entrench his influence in opposition leader Raila Odinga’s stronghold.
Speaking about Ruto’s strategy, Amisi described the president as a “very smart, vicious, conniving, and calculative politician” who effectively wields financial resources to manipulate outcomes and establish political dominance.
Amisi pointed to Ruto’s success in Central Kenya during the 2022 elections as a blueprint for his potential moves in the upcoming 2027 polls. According to Amisi, Ruto capitalized on his close relationship with then-President Uhuru Kenyatta to win over Uhuru’s support base, while the former president remained disengaged from his backyard.
“He took advantage of the bromance between the two, gained goodwill from Uhuru’s support base, and remained close to people, and their leaders were a phone call away, unlike Uhuru, who was always absent. Forget about other underlying reasons. This was the straw that broke camel’s back,” Amisi claimed.
The Saboti MP predicted that Ruto would employ a similar playbook in Raila Odinga’s stronghold, using his relationship with the ODM leader to earn goodwill among Raila’s supporters. He suggested that Ruto would align himself with overzealous ODM leaders, pour resources into the region, and position himself as the bearer of development while Raila focuses on his continental duties at the African Union (AU).
“People will say, he is the one bringing development since independence. We respect Raila but he is in AU. Ruto is our son too and other short stories,” Amisi said.
Amisi further alleged that Ruto would bolster his influence by frequently visiting Raila’s political base, likening his potential dominance in the region to a sense of territorial familiarity. “While Raila is busy with international matters, Ruto will be loitering around the western region like his bedroom,” Amisi remarked.
The outspoken MP added that Ruto would not rely on endorsements but would instead forge coalitions with other regions while leveraging Raila’s influence to cement his foothold. He advised political players to “deal with him at angle theta,” a metaphor for adopting strategic and calculated approaches to counter the president’s political maneuvers.
As the political chessboard for 2027 takes shape, Amisi’s analysis highlights the potential strategies and challenges that could define the contest between Ruto and his opponents.
